Following on from Berlin’s most notorious tag-team, Pan-Pot on PARA006 is not an easy game – but both Fitzpatrick and McKay excel in their respective remixes, pushing their own brand of UK techno on this powerful release. Dark, jacking and effective – these tracks will destroy.
The first of the two remixes is Alan Fitzpatrick’s take on City Destroyer, the debut release on SLAM’s Paragraph imprint. Alan ushers us down a dark, trippy but driving way, with growling lo-end and off-beat use of the original hook. The remix is perfectly balanced with the pads and tones of the original Slam track counter-weighted with the heavy kick drum/bass combination, and interspersed vocal clips and tricks.
Harvey McKay’s dark and menacing cast of Techno has been gaining many followers in the last year and City Destroyer, doesn’t stray from this standard. Stepping things up a gear, he combines crisp hi-hats with ripping sub-bass and the haunting pads from the original. Toward the latter half of the remix, Harvey brings in a dissonant synth, adding a feeling of uneasiness and weirdness to a storming remix.
