The second single from the debut Decimal album, Lost In A Dark Place, storms through with two great originals and a massive remix from the Sandwell District boys. Detroit sounds are prevalent on this EP with dark rhythms and bending synths. This emerging star of the Midwest is right on the button with this release, which is quickly gaining respect and admiration amongst the Techno luminaries.
Decimals Chicagoan roots shine through in his opener, Melody Attack, a track which climbs in intensity with ease. Subtle strings and a twitching synth-line work together in harmony, while strong and grooving percussion work beneath in a track that really moves the floor.
The Sandwell Collective Mix strips things back to a very deep and atmospheric fell in typical Sandwell style. Luscious effects sit behind an almost offbeat bass which brings grit to the rhythm and liquid flow to the track. The main hook taken from the original is treated with dizzying panning effects and delays bringing a futuristic feel to the track. The Sandwell mix has a beautiful arrangement and is finished flawlessly with a delicate but highly effective string section producing a dark, deep but driving mix from Sandwell.
