Kyle Geiger is the newest addition to the Soma roster and makes a big impact on this first EP release. The Indiana producer has acclimatised well to the European scene with stand-out performances across the continent. Having previously released on such labels as Drumcode & Perc Trax, Kyle brings his forceful brand of Techno to Soma. Both tracks on this EP highlight exactly what the producer is all about.
Relentless delivers high-energy sounds including unique drum patterns enhanced with various individual percussion hits. There is splash, synth and processed interference which sweeps through the break-downs to drive the track forward. The repeated themes throughout the track merge well with these bridging synth parts and instrumental elements making a well-rounded and complete sound which maintains its appeal throughout.
Weeks Before hits home with thunderous, rumbling bass throughout and dynamic builds and drops. This is Techno at its most direct and invigorating. Geiger immediately stamps his identity on this release. The prospect of more quality Geiger releases on Soma is certainly an exciting one.
